The Prahova Valley deputy, Cristian Burlacu, draws our attention to the current situation of the Romanian agritourism. The liberal MP considers this to be the sole sector where things "are moving”, and he is worried by the perspective of a crash, especially since, as he states, authorities show incompetence due to lack of strategy in supporting small enterprisers.
Moreover, the Payment Agency for Rural Development and Fishing has announced the annulment of more than 300 contracts with a total value exceeding 30 million Euros; the number of those who cannot carry on their construction work or cannot fulfill the imposed requirements is increasing because of the financial crisis. "The SAPARD Programme has been a powerful tool to develop agritourism so far, offering a substantial support in pension construction”; however, now, facing the measure taken by the Payment Agency for Rural Development and Fishing, "no governmental authority reacts. Nobody expresses their concern or interest in the fact that Romania is losing important sums of money from European financing, leading to diminished investments in the field of agritourism”, declares the deputy in a news release.
