Prahova is the first county in Romania which signed a financing contract with the Regional Development Agency Sud Muntenia to spend the European funds from the REGIO programme in infrastructure.

On Tuesday, in the 200-seat hall of the Administrative Palace from Ploieşti, the president of the Prahova County Council, Mircea Cosma, along with the president of the Dâmboviţa County Council, Florin Popescu, signed together with the representatives of the agency a financing contract for 9 million Euros for a project regarding the rehabilitation of DJ 101 G Tătărani-Brazi-Tinosu-Şirna-Hăbud-Crivăţu, a road which connects Prahova to Dâmboviţa. The project implies the rehabilitation of 30 de km of county road, most of them in Prahova, in a period of 24 months from start date.

The second project was won by the Mizil City Hall. The mayor Emil Proşcanu also signed a 2 million euro contract for the asphalting of 10 streets from the town. The work has a 24 months deadline. Within the priority axis 2 regarding infrastructure, local communities will contribute with 2% of the value of the projects.

This event was attended by the Minister state secretary in the Ministry of Regional Development and Housing, Răzvan Murgeanu who informed local authorities that the advance money will be given when the first invoices are presented. He has also stated that the implementation of the two projects has to be done as soon as possible, so that the money are spent in due time. The money for the five priority axes has to be contracted by 2013, and by 2015 the funds must be spent. Murgeanu warned that in the case in which local authorities do not develop the projects in a period of six months, the money will be taken by the ministry and assigned to other projects. As for the first project, Mircea Cosma announced that the specification is ready for the tender.
