The electoral campaign has begun. Officially!!! After the fuss of the local elections, I wonder what comes next. The candidates keen on "door-to-door” will pay us visits. They will ask us what salary we have, if the money is enough to get by, if we want to visit Paris or shop in Milan, if we have a car or if we want to fly to Mars. They will knock on our doors, and greet on the street. We will be tricked by a smile and a bag of sugar and oil. We have been living the illusion of wealth and prosperity for 30 days.

Here is a new way of campaigning in Ploieşti. The political parties have competed in reserving tickets to all the plays from the Ploieşti Theatre. PD-L Prahova is the first party to sign a contract with the theatre management. Lucian Sabados, the director of the "Toma Caragiu” Theatre, has announced that the democrat-liberals bought two sets of tickets for this week and other shows are under negotiation. Sabados stated that PD-L is not the only party that has chosen to send its voters to the theatre. "There is an intention to purchase the entire set of tickets for several plays, by the end of November. Comedies and revues are preferred”, said Sabados.
Roberta Anastase, the president of PD-L Prahova, has declared that this represents a new type of political marketing in Romania. "People are tired of door-to-door campaigns. We have chosen to get to know ourselves and to communicate in a different way, and also to enjoy seeing a play”, the democrat-liberals' chief explained, adding the fact that the invitations bought by PD-L have been distributed among party sympathizers and members. A complete set of 250 tickets for all the plays staged at "Toma Caragiu” Theatre costs between 1.500 and 2.000 lei. Other parties that have decided to invite their sympathizers to plays are PSD and PNL.

Only seven parties have registered for the electoral race to designate senators and deputies from Prahova. Compared to the local elections, when the representatives of more than 40 political parties or independent candidates could be found on the lists, in the case of the parliamentary elections, the ballot papers will be less thick.
The PSD+PC Alliance, PNG-CD, UDMR, PNL, PD-L and PRM have entered complete files of candidates for all the 17 Colleges in the County, and PPPS has succeeded in finding only two desirers of parliamentary mandates, one for Senate in College 3 Văleni de Munte - Urlaţi, and one for The Chamber of Deputies in College 7 Urlaţi. In the Prahova County Electoral Office, there was registered the candidature of the independent Marin Duţă, a plaintiff by profession, but it was rejected as the legal conditions were not met. "The independent candidacy of Mr. Duţă was rejected because he did not prove the deposit stipulated in the Electoral Law and there were not presented lists to meet the legal number of supporters”, declared the judge Alina Anton, president of BEJ Prahova. Marin Duţă wanted to candidate in College 8 Deputies, against Adrian Năstase, president of the National Council of PSD. All in all, 104 persons subscribed in the race for senator and deputy mandates. Prahova Prefecture has already contracted the firm to print 760.000 ballot papers for the
Chamber of Deputies and as many for the Senate. Throughout the County, there will be 611 voting sections, guarded by Police representatives, Gendarmerie and Communitary Police. In Ploieşti Municipality there will be 155 voting sections. A special case is represented by the persons that cannot move outside their homes due to age or illnesses, and who can prove with medical certificates that cannot leave their houses. In such cases, they can express their political option with the aid of a mobile ballot box. This time, citizens will not be able to vote on the 30th of November unless they are in the locality of residence; this stipulation discontents the Romanians working abroad, as well as the students.
